    New M3 owner in NC

Hi all! I just wanted to introduce myself and my new baby:

    http://www.mysportscar.com/andy/2babies_2_med.jpg

The ITR in the background is currently mine, but I am trying to sell it since I cannot afford to keep both!

    Car details

    Year: 1997

    Mileage: 42,600

    Purchase Price: $21,250

    Having torque: priceless

    Also worth noting:

    - heated Vader seats

    - HK sound system with 6-disc CD changer

    - forged wheels (yummmm)

    - immaculately kept

I took it to Hendrick BMW in Charlotte, NC and paid for the 142-point inspection. I also ponied up the extra money to have compression and leakdown tests performed. The car passed with flying colors, and the dealer even asked the seller (who dropped the car off and picked it up) why he was selling the car. Unlucky him...lucky me!

Blk on Blk:thumbsup: Sweet ride. Sounds like it's stock. Are you planning on doing mods?

Yes...100% stock. This is one of the major reasons I bought it, other than it is extremely clean.

My first mod will likely be a UUC/Rogue SS kit and tranny mount. I have heard good things about UUC, and it turns out my friend's shop can get me very good deals... I will have to do some more research first, primarily here and some other sites.

I am trying to leave it as stock as possible for now because I am trying to focus my tuning disease on a Nissan 240SX (http://www.mysportscar.com/features/project240/index.htm) I am building as a track car.

I am sure I'll end up changing something on the car, but I'm very constrained by my budget right now, with my new house closing in late March / early April. I also have furniture, appliances, paint, and any number of small things (garage door opener, blinds, etc.) to pay for. Needless to say, it'll be some time before I can start back down the upgrade path!

I forgot to mention that the car had a Dinan chip, CF intake, and exhaust installed at the dealer at time of purchase. Any idea how much HP/TQ this'll net me? I hope to take it to my friend's Mustang dyno this weekend to test it out.

Well, I am making the switch for a couple of reasons:

                    1) I am tired of FWD, and wanted something RWD (and fast!) Torque-steer is a pain in the ass, and RWD seems to optimum driving configuration for several reasons. Although it is icy here now, it hardly ever is, and thus no real need for FWD. Besides, the wifey's car is FWD...

                    2) Speaking of the wifey, I wanted to get a car I would be more comfortable carrying a kid in safely. We plan to have kids in a few years, and the ITR is hardly a safe baby-carrier. Not to mention loud and bumpy.

                    3) I am tired of all the r!cer-kidz revving at me because I have a bright-ass yellow Hype R. I would much rather be the Prince of European Sports Cars than the King of FWD JDM Cars!

Don't get me wrong...I love the ITR and wish I did not have to sell it. Especially since it did so well for me in autocross. But I feel like I've outgrown the car because of all the younger kids and their obsession with it. Not to mention the liklihood of theft since almost every part of the ITR will fit on a Civic. Also not to mention the fact that after I got the M3, the wifey told me she never liked the Type R...

Yeah I know where that is...my loaded aunt and uncle used to live up there on the lake. Once the weather gets better, we should arrange a mini-meet!

That's true. Although there would be no way to be sure if I had the M3 when we got married...cause it's the brand new hotness!
