    May need an alignment

Ok basically its snowy like crazy here in PA. I basically drifted slowly into a snow pile and I think I may have thrown the alignment off. The steering wheel shakes a little as I'm driving it. I'm not sure if thats the massive amounts of snow on the wheel or if its seriously the alignment... so I'm wondering if 1. enough snow can make the alignment feel screwed or 2. how much an alignment cost.

    Thx

    1. yes... and mud too (ask any jeep owner : )

    2. I don't think it's really anything special for our cars... except that of course, we all think our car is special : ) I think NTB or anyplace can do it... haven't had one done in more than a year, but I think it was $80 for the last car I had done (fwd).

I would call around and get prices - just don't take it to jiffy lube : ) But any place that sells tires usually has the machines...

several places will charge x amount to check the alignment, and if you have them do the alignment, that amount is not charged.

Some NTB's can't do our alignments because they need these special camera machines.

      Good ones can though.

It runs you 89.99 at NTB and probably a little more at BMW.

I can't tell you if you actually need one or not. Just cruise into an NTB and get their thoughts and remember that they might be a little biased.

yeah, i wanted to do an check if i needed an aligment(sp?) and i went into good year shop and the guys was all like " oh yeah, we don't touch those cars" and i went to firestone where they did it. maybe it was just this good year shop that couldn't do it.

From what I found out is that BMW requires you to do alot more stuff to the car to align it perfectly. Apparently you need to put sandbags on the seats and stuff to get it just right. There are alot of measurements that alot of alignment people can't check or work on because they don't have the equipment. The price we pay for the ultimate driving machine...

Hopefully you did not bend a rim at all, as that would cause a slight shake. Take your car to a good alignment shop as stated above, and also have your wheels re-balanced. Maybe you threw a wheel weight?
