Pics of painted side moldings on Estoril

Anybody have pics of painted side moldings on an Estoril coupe? Did you guys paint them or buy them (if so how much $$)?

    Thanks!

I'm having it done in April. I hope it looks good, because I'm getting it done regardless. I'm tired of having a clean shiny car with dingey, faded moldings. I'm also tired of having to use masking tape whenever I want to wax my car. Besides not liking any of the stock E36 (or even E46) M3 factory wheels (personal opinion), I'd have to say the thing I least like about our M3s are those damn black moldings.

Thanks for the pics! That car looks damn nice with the painted moldings.....I've never seen my Estoril look as light colored as his does. I guess its part camera angle, part sun etc..

This pic is what interested me in doing it:

Yeah, I noticed that too. It's appears a lot lighter than mine is. Variations from the scanner/camera I guess. But anyway, it does look nice doesn't it? I had a Techno Violet '98 M3 sedan that I had it done on, and I was very happy with it. Much easier to maintain, and it made the car look more sleek.

I didn't do the door handles. What's your take on those?

Well, its not estoril blue, but here is a pic of my car in my sig with door handles, and moldings painted, and also the bottom part of the front spoiler painted.

I think I like the door handles being painted. The silver one looks very clean and sleek with them done. On the pics of the Estoril the door handle sticks out since there is no longer any other black molding to help draw the attention away.

How much are you getting yours done for and where do you go to do something like this?

BTW Sweet ride....are you going to put clear corner/tail lights on? I have mixed feelings on them....they dont look that great on the pics you posted. :???:

                      those all look very nice.....

are the side mouldings just taped on (double sided tape)? or is it rivited , etc?

                        Actually they just slide off....

I've accidentally moved them a few times when I have been washing the car!

They're on with pop-rivits... they're inexpensive enough (because they'll probably need replacing).

Very cool I really like the painted moldings. I bet my red 95 would look good too. I waited to buy my 92 LX 5.0 because I heard Ford was going to start painting them to match the car, it was wroth it.

The car looks a lot different with them painted, true car lovers will spot it right away.

I was thinking about doing this but after talking with a local shop I decided against it. They reminded me that every time the moldings are scraped by sand, rocks, other doors, etc., the paint is going to chip and the black is going to show through. The factory 'painted' moldings like on the E46 are the same color throughout so chips obviously do not show up. I am already noticing this problem on my painted eye lids. They were yellow before and now every little chip shows up as yellow.
