2 & 3 are oem. Besides the lens being frosted on the right side of both, look at how the light is reflected inside the lens. The reflection pattern for 2 and 3 is almost identical, while the reflection in #1 has a more diffused look to it.

          WOW, this is getting crazy.

A lot of people must have bought some fake OEM's or there are different OEM's floating around.

          You're right purple...my orange doesn't look like 3 either!!!!

          WTF!

I bought my clears from the stealer for like 2398472398 dollars, so if anyone tells me that 1 is fake I'm going to be shocked and we will all have learned a lesson.

Anyone else think that it is interesting that older members (read cheaters) think that 1 is real whereas members with fewer than 60 posts or so (or guys with a 2004 E46!!!) think 1 is fake.

This is just an observation...not cheating because now you have me doubting myself.

            Just tell us already!!!

lol... alright this may come to a suprise to most of you.......

the 1st and 3rd ones are original bmw parts, the 2nd is the replica/fake

the 2nd clear corner is manufactured in taiwan and has the brand name of "Eagle Eyes"... it also only cost $22. (i bought them from ebay w/ shipping)... i 've also heard that most replicas are made to be "almost" exact as the oem.... thats where the "blurry" effect is made to the right of the 2nd & 3rd corner....

the 1st and 3rd are both manufactured in germany, an original BMW part... both of them have the bmw logo embeded to the lenses assuring the authenticity of the product... other than that i'm not sure why does the amber corner has the "blurry" effect and not the clear ones...

... the only reason why i replaced my clear corners was because the clips broke on the eagle eyes corners... cheap material maybe?... well the oem ones are made of abs and are much much stronger and held well together...

honestly i was a bit confused when i bought the corners b/c of the difference of apperance... but when i examine it closely and saw that bmw logo... it gave me a more "proud" feeling of having an authentic... and reassured me that i wasn't getting a phony...

it was pretty fun looking at the responses while it lasted i think i would of choose 2nd & 3rd too :banghead:

haha... well whats left to say but see your replies... and does anyone know why does the oem clears do not look the same as the amber ones??

o yeah... i forgot to mention the back part of oem clear corner was different from the other two also.... a part of it extends out more (behind the "fuzzier" part of the corner)

US DOT regulations require an amber reflector on both sides of the front of all cars. The OE BMW clear lenses are designed for the European market that does not have such a requirement. The Asian knock-off clearly copied the US lens including the reflector, which was kind of pointless since they're still not US DOT legal because the reflector is not amber. Not that (m)any cops will ever nail you for this, but you're supposed to stick on a small amber reflector on each side of the nose of your car if you switch to clear corners to be legal, much like the ones on E46s.

FYI, CircleBMW.com sells the OE BMW clear lenses for $29 per side for the front corners, http://www.circlebmw.com/parts/access/lig-clear.htm

The Amber OEM's are US spec. Becuase the E36 was never offered in america with clear lenses, you purchase OEM european spec lenses which do not have US specified side reflectors.
