///M Badge Color?????

Got a question for all you M heads out there. I am about to purchase a 96 M.....i was looking at it and I noticed that the ///M badge is lightblue,purple, and white. Now I've noticed that a lot of them have different colors? I always thought it was just three certain colors in the backslashes. Please shine some light on this...

what you've probably seen is a sun beaten M badges and some not so sun beaten M badges...the correct colors are light blue/dark blue/red

u can get a new one for around 35$.. and i highly recommend u do because it makes the car looks o much better.. trust me.. i had the sun beaten.. the white part is definiltly the red..

Lol I didn't know mine were sun faded until this thread.. mine are blue/purple/red and I thought that was normal.. didn't know the purple (as on my emblem) was supposed to be a dark blue...

It's all good, Dark Blue/Purple/Violet, it's all basically the same.

For painting -

Blue -Violet Glasurit/BMW 4000

Light-Blue Glasurit/BMW 5002

Red Glasurit/BMW 353



For printing -

Blue: Pantone Process Blue

Purlpe: Pantone 268

Red: Pantone Warm Red



I am trying to find the history of the M colours again.



If i remember correctly it has something to do with purple being the original M divison colour. Red was the colour of Texaco who were then the official sponsor.



What about the blue?

I was wondering about that though b/c my license plate frame has purple as the center color, but the damn badge looks like it's dark blue.
