Time for new tires, what should I get?

My rear tires are getting pretty bald now (some parts in the middle are smooth). I dont know if I should try rotating them up front for a little bit and tear up the better condition front ones. This way I can change all 4 tires later, or should I just change the 2 now? Also i'm not sure if i can rotate my tires. The LTW wheel's (even on 95's) are supposedly staggered rims, even though they dont have different size tires. Would it be ok if I rotated em if the rims are staggered but the tires are not? I swear the rims look like they are all the same size though :???:

Next question, what tires do you guys recommend? I currently have the Michelin Pilot Sports all around. I was thinking about getting the Bridgestone Potenza SO-3's. I've also heard good things about the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. What do you guys think is the best tire? I want crazy grip, but I dont want to change tires ever few thousand miles.

    Thanks everyone :rockband:

If your tires are the same size, your wheels are not staggered. Go ahead and rotate.

If your wheels were staggered, you should not do this.

I would avoid buying an All-Season tire like the Pilot sport A/S if you are looking for crazy grip. This is not going to do it for you.

I haven't done enough research to make a good recommendation on what you should get, but I guess I know what you shouldn't get

I have the Potenza SO-3's great tire, but treadwear is 220. So you will be replacing tires a bunch. Not to mention I can't rotate tires since my rims are staggered. I did read somewhere that Bridgestone came out with some new potenzas that don't have the grip of the SO-3s, but aren't far off, are cheaper and will last a bit longer. If you want a great tire though and money isn't an option, in my opinion by all means go with the SO-3's

areyou referring about rim size? I believe they are all 17s....but 95's don't come staggered, staggered for M3's are wider width on the rear--anywho...give us some numbers on the tires and we'll tell yah if they are staggered or not....

I am in your situation right now too...i have pilot sport and they grip hard...but wear is fast! s-03's seem to be the new tire since pilots have been out way before that...so i'm waiting to see if Michelin is going to come out with a new tire to compare with the s-03's. The s-03's seem to wear quickly as well....you can't really expect good tread wear on a low profile tire, especially from a person who is wanting super crazy gum-under-shoe stickyness on the road(probably means you want to corner hard and drive fast on turns).:rockband: .... which is a good thing.

The Yokohama AO32R is something you should look into ^_^

Crazy grip, but "slippery when wet" ~_^

I am happy with my Pirelli Rosso tires on my staggered rims.

Ok, lets get some things straight.

If you have the optional 95 ltw wheels then they are in fact staggared. All ltw wheels, 95 and 96+, were staggered. Your's came with 235's all around, which is a great setup.

I'd get 235/40 S03's all around. Yoko A032R's are crappy r comps and even worse as street tires.

I recently researched this for fuking ages and came to the following conclusion:

Goodyear GSD3's are the best price/performance tyre out there for your car.

Yoko AVS Sports are the best "max performance" tyre available for your car. This basically came down to a comparison between the S0-3 and the AVS Sport. More US users seem to use the Bridgestone but most comparisons I've read rate the Yoko higher. The Yoko's won far more industry awards (then again, so has the GSD3).

People will have varying opinions on both of these points and I don't really mind. I spent enough time researching and visiting tyre outlets that I'm confident that these are generally accurate opinions.

I purchased the Yoko's (ahead of the GSD3's) because I got them for less than cost. I don't think I would be unhappy with GSD3's or S0-3's.
