    Front License Plate ?

Just moved to a state that requires a front plate. My M3 didn't come with the bracket (for lack of a better word) on the front bumper strip to accomodate a plate.

There's a "front license plate bracket kit" offered on Bavarian Autosport's web site, but there's no picture of the product. Has anyone purchased it, and if so, is that what I need? Thx. in advance.

I just called and ordered this. They say it's the OEM factory piece.

I bought the kit you describe from the dealer. Basically you just you take the front molding piece out and replace it with one that is made to accomodate a front plate. It's a piece of cake.

I mounted the OEM tag bracket through my front moulding, then bought a spare moulding that has the BMW on it, so when I got to meets and such I can swap them out real quick.

It's not too hard to make your own. You could see how it looks on my sig. below, except that it's so low profile that it's not obvious how the plate is held on.

          See:

for details on how I made it. Tools needed are a drill and a hacksaw, materials are a 2' piece of 1" x 1" x 1/8" aluminum angle and a few stainless machine screws available from the local hardware store. Cost is ~$5.

I have been driving since Jan of 2001 without a front plate in Mass which requires one. Never been stopped or ticketed for that yet. Luck of the draw I guess.

What you should do, if you don't mind getting pulled over, is have the bracket and plate in your car somewhere. Then when the cop asks why don't you have it, you can say it just fell of recently, and then show him the plate. The cop will either let you off, or give you a fix-it ticket, which is like 10 bucks. I don't see them giving you a regular ticket.
