    Blue lights. love them!!!!

    HI,

What i really would like to have on my 1997 m3 is those bleu lights like porsche or ferreri. I think the new bimmers have them too just not as blue.

CAn this be possible by just changing the bulb?

    Thanks,

bimmer_KEY i think you are talking about HIDs, its a kit that u buy for a few hundred dollars and put into european ellipsoid headlights and then it looks something like the new mersedes, or whatever else.. not just some cheap ass ten dollar bulbs off ebay.. i would never buy those, they'll blow on you and u'll waste your money.. bmws are really picky when it comes to bulbs, especially those cheap taiwan made ones..

Don't waste your money on junk like that. If you want real HID's buy them...dont buy cheesy knockoff bulbs like that for 10 bucks that will blind everyone on the road.

Run some searches on xenon or HID and you'll find lots of good stuff.

The differnet colored lights you see on the more expensive cars come from High Intensity Discharge (HID) lights. Instead of using a regular filament like the bulbs in your car now, they use a gas that is electrically charged, usually Xenon. Xenon light gives off a more white or blue light than a Halogen bulb.

HID lights are the only good way to change your color and still get good light output.

You can buy a halogen bulb that is painted blue and just plug it in to your current set up but I would advise against this. I tried to go this route and let me tell you, the painted bulbs are terrible. The light output was so low that on dark roads I felt it was dangerous.

So your best option is an HID setup that will cost you around USD$900.

wow a hid system is really expensive. What about if i buy a bulb KUpolo that has over 5000k(some kind of mesurement for light's that bulbs use.) And will they burn really fast.

Those are exactly what I would avoid buying. See how the bulbs are painted blue? That greatly impairs the amount of light that they put out.

Don't be fooled by their claim of better lighting. It is very simple, there are only two ways to get better light output with a blue/white color.

                  1)Get a HID set up

2)Increase the wattage of your current bulbs.

You can buy a higher wattage bulb for your existing setup, but it is going to burn out much faster. You will also need to run relays for anything above 80 watts or it is going to melt down.

The existing bulb in our cars is 55watt. To match the output of a HID system, you would want to be near 100watts.

I bought the euro headlight for my car. While not blue colored, the projection system is better than the stock US set up.

We're backing you man, but with better spelling and grammar. Just kidding.

Seriously though…it sounded like it might take more people agreeing to sway bimmer_key from making a cheap, but unnecessary mistake.

OH MY G its so so bright especially with hi beam. both inside and outside lights become high beam when you turn the high beam on!! great retro kit if you want the ultimate try it. by the way depos are fine especially when your going to retrofit a bixenon kit into it.

your first two links are bad...did you buy those more than 2 weeks ago? If you did, it's gone I think.

What components did you buy and how much was your total cost?

I have a set of HID's waiting to go in once the weather gets better.
