I recently thought up and tested an idea to test the efficiency of my 95 m3. I set the cruise control at a highway speed and reset the trip computer's average fuel at a certain point (x overpass) and cruised for several miles to "y" overpass (tough to do in Atlanta without interrupting the cruise). It helps if temps are similar.
I tested a before and after run of about 10 miles running at 75 mph and got 25.6mpg before I changed out my worn Bosch Platinum +4's. After changing to NGK BKR6EQUP's, mpg's increased to 26.4 at about the same temp and fuel load.
I have not yet tested for repeatibility of this 26.4, but I'd bet it's a pretty accurate reading for seeing how efficient my engine's running.
What do you guys think?
