    Suspension Question

I have a '95 M3 and when I look at the rear wheels from behind they looked to be angled / \ like so. There seems to be a rattle from the trunk area so the RSMs probably need to be replaced, but what part of the suspension is causing the wheels to be angled / \ and what kind of repair bill am I looking at? Thanks for any help.

Is your car lowered/has different shocks?

that will naturally dial in more negative camber like you're describing. It might be normal.

You can adjust the rear camber from underneath the car in 99's, but I don't know about 95's...probably...I'll let someone more experienced field this one though.

If you can straigten it out, your tires will thank you...as will your wallet.

all e36 m3's have adjustable rear camber. How much camber are you currently running?

Not sure how much camber I am running and the suspension is stock. I just took delivery of the car the other day and happened to notice it when looking at the car from behind. I was just hoping that the suspension wasn't shot or something.

Are there any negative effects, besides increased tire wear, of having the camber set like this? Is it easy to setup the camber for normal driving or does BMW have to do it? This car will be my daily driver and I would want the best setup for that. From your replies my worries have eased a bit, thanks.

If you're worried about it, why not go have your alignment done. Since the car is new (to you) it's not a bad thing to do for some peace of mind. They will adjust the rear camber (among other things) to stock so you'll know what the / \ is supposed to look like.

Believe it or not, the negative camber you are seeing may be within factory specifications and they may not adjust it during the alignment. I don't have the sheet in front of me (nor can I find it right now), but I believe around 2 degrees of negative camber on the rear wheels is within specs for these cars...

I would get an alignment to be sure...
