    Will M3 beat S2000

My freind has a 03 S2000 and I have a 97 M3 auto. I want to race with him but never had a chance, and I am wondering will I beat him?

S2000 does 0-60 in 5.8. So there isnt much difference between that time and the m3 automatic time. It's going to come down to who knows how to drive their car the best.

Unless the S2000 drops at 4000 RPM and has another 4000 or so to go in first to launch.

My money is on the S2000 from a highway roll-on.

Unless your bud hates his clutch and tranny, my money goes to you in the M3. S2000's have terrible 5-60 times, and that is a time that better represents what Joe Shmo can do in the car. If he gets a good launch, I dont think you will get him. If he cheeses his launch, then you win.

I doubt your friend is a very capable driver... if you do a brake start ( hold your foot on the brake while you give it a little gas) You should get a half or so car lenght head start and win.

              i got 100 on the s2k.

I have a 95 m3 coupe 5 speed with mods and my buddy has a 00 s2k... which is known to be the fastest year. Although i have 19s and a system, he pulls by maybe a car. He does have intake full exhaust, few little things and 16s, i think s2k will def eat a m3 auto.

              idk just my .02

btw... im out for him this year though, no system and stockies means ill own him:thumbsup:

Just remember, the 95 M5 had the S50, his 97 has the S52. Slight difference.

Just kick your friend in the left ankle so he isnt as great on the clutch, and you'll win. Do anything you can to make him botch his launch, and you'll be the winner.

                  m3 auto= what... mid 14s?

                  a 1/2 a second is alot in a race...

                    What are your thoughts on the S2000 vs a 5-Speed E36 M3?

The auto probably can't hang with the 6-speed S2...

Well I will throw in my additional two cents. I have driven a S2000 and they don't seem THAT fast, not as fast as my M at least. I think when Road and Track got their time for the S2000 they dropped the clutch at 8K. No one does that on the street if they care at all about their car. I think if you are both about average drivers then you should be able to beat him.

It's a tough call, I'm not so sure about the auto. The one good thing about an auto is all you have to do is stomp on the throttle to get a good start, the s2k takes a little more skill. If the guy knows how to drive and hates his clutch I think he's got you. But 0-60 on an s2k are anywhere from 5.4 - 6.5, I've even seen 7.1. What that shows is the car is very tempermental and your have to know how to drive it to get a good time. As for the 5 spd M3, I think it would win, the best times of the s2k are like 5.4/5.5, whereas the M can pretty consistantly hit 5.5/5.6.

I bet the 2k will win, i'd watch it.

5spd M3 and S2000 are pretty dead even, although the M definitely feels faster. (ive spent MUCH more time behind the wheel of an S2000 than my M3)
