    black on black

After reading about some of the exterior mods, what would you think of this. I have a cosmos black 97. How about putting in the clear lenses all around;. painting the rims black; painting the front chrome black; tinting the windows; and changing the logo blue to black. Good idea or too much?

Nice, smoke does not look nice or something? Why clear or white?

looks good, but those black rims with a polished lip would be HOTTTT

you may find that it is an overkill of black. but if you break it up with matte and gloss finishes or looks, you could pull it off. seems, like some money wasted on cosmetics if you don't like it though. if you got the money though, give it a try. it will definately make your car stand out from the rest

I think dark corners and rear lights would be better if youre going with the whole "black" motif. I have a cosmos black as well and I'm in the market for some EXTREMELY dark corner lenses but all i seem to find are slightly shaded ones they call "smoked."

You bring up a great question that I've been mulling over with my cosmos black 97: How far to go with it.

I too have been thinking about black wheels, window tint, smoked corners, ect.. Even though I like the *sinister* look (track prepped look but driven daily), I think our cars start to loose their classyness at a certain point. After all, these are BMWs that we're tuning, not Honda Civics.

I guess it also depends on the image you want your car to have. My younger brother @ 21 years old thinks the blacked out, slammed, abnoxiously loud look is the way to go. The young girls his age look, his friends look, ect.. Kinda like yellow calipers - gets your attention but is rather cheesy after a while.

At 27, I'm looking for a "Clean" look that's not overdone. The young crowd will fear it at stop lights, attorneys with the big bank roll will admire the performance aspect and thought put into the car, and when/if I go to sell it, it will appeal to the true enthusiasts as opposed to the ghetto honda crowd.

I'm going clear lights for now, they are a factory part in Europe and really make the car flow better, no tint, and am contemplating a dark silver/ grey wheel so that they dont' dissapear on a black car. I'll get soome picts posted once it's done.

I kinda like black on black. My old car was a black mustang with black(dark charcoal) leather and 35% tints. I wouldn't black out the Roundel though. If you are looking for something different you could get a CF grille. Also I agree that smoked lenses would probably work the best. http://www.carbon-werks.com/shop/catalog/images/E36_odb2_grilles_3.jpg

my M-brothers....contemplating the Black on Black look?...that's what I've already done!...95 cosmos w/Blacked out(powdercoated) M-Contours....tinted, blacked-out kidney grills...still have the ambers though...IMO, if you're gonna black out the M, the amber look flows better than the euro-clears...

there's isn't a single "chrome" part on her right now...and let me tell you, the M looks freakin' mean....definitely has the sinister, bad-ass, Knight Rider look going...

..The motif is definitely NOT for everyone, but I've gotten a butt-load of looks and plus, it's a different twist...kinda makes the M stand out....which is the way it should always be...

....also, if you're gonna black out the rims, the M-Contours seem to give the best look for some reason.

Anyhow...just wanted to add my $.02...let me know what you think for the dudes that are contemplating this...

Do you have any pics.. Man I saw a blacked out car and it just didn't look right. I was thinking about it awhile back but after seeing this car I just was disgusted by it..

Genner...dude, like I said...the look is NOT for everyone....and keep in mind...you gotta do it tastefully....it gives the M a clean, sleek, totally aggressive look....like a Dark Horse...intimidating...

maybe the one you saw was too wacked out???

sorry but I don't have any pics to post right now....

ti, I would also like to see some pics. I am really curious about the black wheels. What type of finish seems best?

yeah i had the same plans to "black" out the car.... but i felt that it'll "take away" the luxury of the car and make it look more......... i think if i do too much, i'll eventually want it back as a Original M

Mine's Cosmos Black, tinted windows, clear corners/markers. The grilles are still stock chrome and I have the same wheels as you, but chrome. Personally I think it's the perfect balance, though I've thought black wheels with a polished lip would be awesome as well.

Smoked lenses are mentioned in this thread. Any recommendations for purchasing. I have a 98 Cosmos black. I want the yellow lenses to go and think smoke would be better than clear. I keep going back and forth on blacking out the grille. I have polished BBS RC so another shiny detail seems necessary.
