How do I remove loops that hold in old floormats?

I got the new ones from the dealer and they have velcro on the bottom. I have tried to twist, pull, tug the old loops with no avail. Anybody done this?:help:

i installed them on my car.. just pull really hard and twist couter clockwise. while pulling up.

I just received my set of floormats and my car had the loops on the floor. I noticed some floor mats have holes in it so the loops can hold the mats down. I guess they changed the mats. Or maybe they sold us the wrong mats for our cars.

That's really strange, because I have a '97 as well but no pegs for holding the carpets. There's not even a hole in the ground where the pegs would be put in. I wonder if during '97, they changed over to the velcro-based mats and got rid of the pegs.
