    Ram Air M3

Planning on fabricating my own ram air intake, and was going to use the air coming from the left brake duct....does this really do anything??

    Do i really need it??

unless you are driving at over 100, you wont get any power gain from that, only draw some colder air.

what is the best to do is get a dinan styler in bumper cai, and cut some U shapes in the brake duct, and push them down, so that it creates as a catcher to draw cold air toward the intake filter.

I don't think that Gruppe M makes an intake for the U.S. version E36 M3. However, that intake is very popular (and very expensive) for the E46 BMW's.

Depends on what you do with the left brake duct....

If it is completely used for the intake, it will not cool the left brake.

On my car, have the euro intake setup which uses the left brake duct but still keeps it intact for air going to the brakes....

and yes it does help with cooling the brakes.

Was put on my car before I purchased it but took it out to look at it. THey cut a whole on the top on the brake duct and fed it to the intake so that it serves two purposes.

I did this for the cold air affect, not the ram air. This shares the same idea as the EuroSnorkel, but i used 2.5" diameter tubing which is about 1" larger in diameter.

I'm not looking at the engine right now and can't exactly picture it, but how about routing the hose to sit behind the grill? You could hardley see it, and it won't take too much air away from the radiator. Or how about in the front opening below the grill? There is also a gap between your headlight and hood. You could fabricate a bracket that gets air from there, just make it long and thin.
