my '98 m3 has an 11 button on board computer and i bought an 18 button unit has anyone swapped one of these before? the 11 button one has one harness connector, the 18 button has two, where is the other connector or how can you get a harness splice?

You can not easily do it. You will have to run other wires in the car and tap into sensors/other connectors. You will also need a differnt stalk for either the cruise control or turn signal.
There is a writeup somewhere on the net (maybe on www.unofficialbmw.com ) as this has been done before. But it is a real headache. If that scares you away from doing it like it does me, then sell the one you bought on e-bay and try to turn a profit, or at least break even. Good luck. -
you can't really do it b/c you need the sensors. i would imagine if you plug in the first connector maybe what you do usually have (temp, memo) will work? I thought only the early '95s had the 11 button comp.Comment
