    Thank God!!!! Water Pump........

i just finished ripping my cooling system apart

I bought the car, knowing that a lot of stuff had been replaced, but did not have any records of the water pump being replaced. I decided to rip everything apart today, and to my surprise, the water pump had been replaced with the metal propeller. I am happy now

All i have to do now is clean up all that antifreeze all over the garage floor..........order an aluminum thermostat housing, and put everything back together.

what ramps are those in that one pic? Do you have any trouble getting the car up on them or would someone with the m3 front bumper have trouble? Can you back the car up on to them to raise the rear? Any links or costs would be helpful.

My car is an M3, just with a 3 ser bumper for the winter, otherwise it is a snow plow.

I cant get up the rims with a regular 3 series bumper, my jack wont even fit under the car. I use the stock jack to jack up the side a bit, and then slide my floor jack under, then i lower the car on the ramps, as for the rear, i am sure you could drive up. There seems to be enoguh clearance.

I dont know what brand ramps they are, but you can get them at pep boys. I dont reccomend them. Get other low profile ones. I borrowed those from my neighbor.

Two hours of work, and posting, the only reply i get is about the ramps :banghead:

garage looks pretty sweet too.

Definantly cool that you do all your own bodywork as well as maintenance.

i have the same ramps. they are UltraRamps. K-mart and Wal-mart have them. they also sell extensions that hook on the bottom and the M clears nicely.

i don't think the rear would fit if you have anything bigger than 225 tires.

I use those same ramps and they work well if they don't slide when going up. Meaning, they move forward and the car won't go up. They need rubber on the bottom or something to prevent that from happening.

Nice work on the car. Looks like a nice setup in the garage.

The ramps I use have rubber knobs on the bottom that stick to the pavement very well to prevent slippage. They appear to have a much larger slope than those shown in this picture, making it easier to drive up onto (its not as steep, but it goes higher)..

I got them at OReillies for like 30 bucks.. they work great!

thanks guys. Now i have to wait for the tapped aluminum thermostat housing to come in, and i gotta find a nice water temp guage. Any suggestions?

So, what is the story with the water pumps. About when do they go bad? I am looking for a used M3 so I am just trying to gather info. Thanks
