Going way back to my original question, but I should state it differently. I have an automatic, a pulley upgrade would be where I am aiming at but I need to ask a few questions prior doing so. This pertaining only to pulleys with no involvement of the flywheel.

    1) Would the accessory pulley give more gains than the crank or vice versa? If there is a problem with either one, please state your knowledge of why there is a risk of post-problems. If you don't know and are just bias in your answer due to "i heard they were bad" then do not answer. Thanks!

This question pertains to a flywheel. What is the deal with the flywheel and the automatic? Could this even exist?

hey man i feel like i can be a lot of help to you since i have an auto 97 m3 and i just ordered a set of evo sport pulleys, to answer your previous ? - so far i have cold air intake, uuc tse exhaust, dinan stage 2 software and stage 2 tranny chip, and ngk iridium plugs (not sure if thats even a performance mod), anyhow monday i am getting evo sport pulleys put on and i will definitely tell you if they are worth it or not.. as far as flywheel i dont see how it's different than 5 speed, flywheel is flywheel, but i might be wrong, but from what i heard is that it is possible for auto.. now there is another thing u might want to consider if you aren't top end crazy and want off the line power is to switch to a 3.91 diff, that + a few other mods, and without even building your tranny, u'll burn rubber through second gear in auto, which is nuts... i will also talk to my friend and find out more details on that tranny upgrade or built up or what ever u want to call it ( i talked about it earlier where it feels like smg) and let you know the $numbers and how it's done.. also don't let 5 speed guys talk crap about auto, if you build it right and get the right mods, they'll have nothing on you.. i get **** for having auto all the time and i cant wait to finish my car and prove to them that auto isnt all that bad.. right now my car with only a few mods is doing 0-60 in 5.6 with 2 people so i figure, 5.5 with just me.. which is great for auto considering that stats say 6.4-6.6.. also we hit 160mph with no problem at all, 3 people in a car and rpms at 5200, i think that those numbers for the mods i have are great, and they'll be a lot better when i finish the car.. btw this thread is great, lot of good replys and info with no serious arguements..

          ?

The crank pulley will give 2x the gains accessory pulleys do. You do lose the harmonic dampener, which can be a problem when combined with a ltw fly wheel. There are no dangers in running the pulley its self.

As far as i know, you cannot add a ltw fly to a auto tranny car.

Thanks for the info man! Your setup is almost like what I am saving up for to get it all in one step. What kind of intake do you have? I'm thinking of getting the CF intake from Carbonio. As for exhaust, it's going to be Eisenmann(not sure which one yet, cause I don't want to be farting everywhere.) And as for software and tranny software....dinan seems to be the only one who provides both.

and so you're saying the crank pulley will be okely dokely fine for my auto eh? Because I am not going to get the LTW flywheel. Losing the harmonic dampener....what does that exactly do?--sounds like more vibration....

Blah... save your money and go to driving school or get some nice tires... that will make you faster. Driving skill doesn't wear out either

Yeah, I was thinking about that too. Taking one of those weekend performance driving classes. I heard it adds around 20rwhp.

gumball is right but seriously, wear on your car comes driving hard too, no? Just as long as we all have fun. Mr. Park made me a believer in pulleys and I think our engines can withstand any added stress UDPs bring with it, when installed properly and maintained well. Longevity in engines come from just driving it short distances instead of long ones. Don't we all just want to have fun in the end?

No one has even mentioned acc. pullies, as Mr. Park has, as being anything but positive. When you speak of under-driving the crank, that is where the argument begins.

I think everyone can agree that acc. pullies, though providing minimal gains, are considered totally safe.

ok i just got home after getting my evo sport pulleys along with 3 new oem idler pulleys installed, wow for $240 i'm very impressed, the power seems to be better through out the whole rpm range, and coming out of the corners it doesnt lag to rev up like it used to any more, i think that the increase is definitely worth the money.. here's a pic i just took of them (but you can only see 2 in it)

i've heard that modifying your crank pulley can throw off engine balancing? or something like that? i dont know maybe i just have it mixed up. is that true?

we don't use a weighted balancer, only a harmonic one.
