hi there. i'm getting ready to purchase a 97 m3 from a friend. are there any problems that i should be concerned about with this particular year and model? thanks in advance.

Go to FAQ section in the forum and there is an thread there that has a ton of info on what to look for when buying a used M. Good luck -
um... the only problems i had faced w/ my 97, was i needed to replace the:
M-52 Crank Sensor and
Oxygen Sensor Fault
they should both be covered under warrenty tho
just bring it to a mechanic before hand.. and if check engine light comes on either get it to a dealer to have it looked at.. or buy the code book for like 160$
