    Spoilers and Contour Wheels

    I'm in the market for a 98 M3 Sedan or 99 M3 Coupe.

    1) I've heard that the rear spoiler did not come stock on these cars and must be installed aftermarket. Is this true?

    2) I've also heard that the Contour wheels were only available with the Luxury Package (which includes the wood interior). Is this also true?

    Thanks.

    Hi there,

Most M3's came with a spoiler but it was always an option. Many dealers installed it by default. The original BMW look is without a spoiler.

I don't know about the contours but I don't think that's right. Either way, you'll probably be able to buy a used set (for $$$) if you really want them.

I think M3AN is right about the spoiler being a dealer installed option.

On '98-99 model cars there was no luxury package and the contours were a no cost option. They came standard on the luxury package in '96-97.

Spoilers could have been installed by the factory, at the dealer, or aftermarket. You can tell if its been done at the factory as there won't be a 3rd brakelight.

Contours also came on the 95 luxury package. You still can get contours on a non-luxury model M3, but it was an option.

My sticker has the spoiler on there as if it was a factory option...maybe things changed for 99.

I have no spoiler on my 99 - so it had to be an option.

odd, I always thought the contours were standard on the sedan but I guess it makes more sense that it comes with the luxury pacakge.

same here, 99 no cost option.

but my car was optioned odd. the person opted for the $975 hk system, but choose not to get the keyless entry/alarm, odd huh.

I would give anything to have keyless instead of the HK audio. Want to trade?
