    Cleaning Headlight Covers?

IMO the headlights are a weak link on my 96. Two questions. First, are the plastic lenses removable so you can clean the inside? If so can someone give me a how-to link? Second, can the wattage of the low beams be increased without risking melting the plastic?

Thanks in Advance for your help guys and gals.

hey les.. the headlights are the weaklink on the E36.. most guys, like myself, upgrade to some other headlight.. i got the ZKW's.. as for cleaning them.. its what ya see.. as far as i know u can't get in them which makes it a real pain in the ass.. i will never get in my old ones.. just not worth it.. i just spend the 300$ and said hell with it all.. got glass lenses instead of plastic.. makes it easier to clean and extremely bright and clear.. as for the wattage.. u can increase the wattage.. there should be a writeup that 97blkm3coupe did involving higher wattage bulbs.. run a search for it.. i can't remember the name of it.. but it would definitly help some.. if u are giong to spend the money i highly recommend going after a new set of headlights.. hope that helps

      Alex,

Thanks for the input, I'll do a search - should have started there anyway. Glass makes more sense, that with a higher watt bulb and I think I will have the ticket.

If you're interested in getting your US lights back to an almost new look(with the exception of chips) Zymol's Screen Clean is very good stuff.

ill agree u can probably get some of it cleaned.. but the stock lighting blows.. when u put on ZKW's for the first time u find out that the stock lighting is underpowered in every way imagined.. u can see sooooo much better at night with ZKW's
