I found a gas station that sells 110 octane gas. It was $3.89 a gallon for that stuff when I went there. I was wondering what that would do to our cars performance wise? Could I even run that stuff? Is there anything bad that could happen if I put that in my car? I was thinking about trying it out.

I honestly don't think that the engine computer could adjust timing to properly burn that gas to it's potential. You may feel a little bit more power, but on the other hand, it could negatively affect performance slightly. I don't think anything bad will happen.
Give a little bit a try and let us know what happens.

yeah, this gas station had a sign on the pump that says race fuel. I'd go take a picture, but it would take me about 25 min to drive there, and it's finals week right now, so i dont think i'm going to drive out there just for a pic.
I've also hear from someone that you can run 103 octane with no problems, but you cant have cats to run 110 cause it's leaded. Glad that confirmed that BMWGuy206. The gas here is 93 octane NRG, I was just curious as to what the added octane would do performance wise.

VP make an unleaded 103RON fuel & Sunoco make for memory RON106, but as others have said if U go for leaded, well ya gunna stuff up your O2 sensors & the cat convertor. U may also find these fuels perform best with different A/F ratios, and if the density of the differnt to the std fuel then the injector calibrations will be out.

I don't think ron and octane are the same.
The M3's recommended octane is 91. A standard car runs 85-87 octane. What is the recommended ron for the M3?

In Aust & Europe the RON standard for octane is used. In the spec they list 98RON as the standard fuel for the M3. They can run on a minimum of 95RON.
America seems to have a differnet standard for octane. is this correct. They even do crazy stuff like drive on the RHS of the road, and use pounds, MPH, feet & inches

Stick half airplane gas which is 100 low lead (filtered so there is almost no lead) and half 94 and you'll have yourself a great combo. Airplane gas runs for about 2.12 where I am. Just remember that its illegal to bring your car on the airfield. Other than that, make sure you don't use jet fuel... its not gas, its kerocine (spelled wrong ofcourse) and will adversly damage your car.

i always thought it was 91... that sux in cali we can only get 91.. our cars software is optimised for 91 anyway.. even jc chip is for 91... am i wrong?
I could have swore the jim c chip is designed for 93 octane. I think that he doesn't even make software for 91, only 93. Maybe i'm wrong though. But on my car it does say 91 octane by the gas gauge. I'm just glad we do have 93 octane here.

wrong! I saw 110 octane in modesto by the lake. It said it was racing fuel. Too bad i had filled my tank already when i saw this or else i would of tried it. It's stationed away from the regular fuel 87,89,91. Maybe this fourth of july i'll head up there again and check out the gas, and girls too of course.
