    Nitrous?

I have a buddy who is selling a nitrous kit for cheap, brand new. I was thinking about it a bit. If I could hear some opinions on Nitrous, I would very much appreciate it. Thanks

Not for our cars. People do it, and it works, but its go fast at the push of a button. What happens when you dont have a bottle, or its not open and ready to go. You gonna ask the guy you're running to hold on while you open the bottle??? Also these are track cars - NOS doesnt do much on the track unless you want to spray on a straight or something. This is my opinion - I know a few guys who are running it on their M's and its ok, I just dont think its that great of a thing as everyone makes it out to be.

Now in a 69 Camaro with a built 350 and a 2-stage 300 shot thats strictly a 1/4 mile car - thats a different story. Just not on an M car.

That is what I was thinking, but today I got on the freeway and a M Coupe pulled up to me, and I wanted nothing more than to leave him behind me. I just got my car 1.5 months ago, and I am finally getting an intake. But other than that I am stock, and I think I just got the go fast bug in me.

I think that nitrous is for weanies. You could make the "marry-maid's" mini-van fast if they ran nitrous. On some cars it works, but our cars are different. They're like the real sexy, beautiful girl that you've always wanted and knows how to treat you right. Civics run nitrous b/c they're like those girls that just cake on the make-up and wear water-bra's and tummy-tuckers to try and make them something that they're not. Just my opinion though  .

There is nothing wrong with nitrous. I see Vipers and Corvettes with nitrous, why is it so wrong to put it on an M3? Our cars lack serious power, and the best bang for the buck is nitrous, and that is on any vehicle. I would gladly put a nitrous bottle in the trunk of my M3. I wouldn't be putting the NOS sticker on the car though. I think thats where the line is drawn.

The NOS setup I'd use would be a wet system with a remote bottle opener. Other than that I think its a shame that people believe only civics and other japanese cars can have nos.

Other cars than just civics can have it, I'm just kiddin around. But, it is true that our cars lack serious power. That being said, I know better than to run against a tuned viper or something like that. However, our cars aren't dragsters. I'll bet slips w/ any dope in his NOS-equiped supercharged (hypotheticaly) GT mustang that I'll beat him going up a tight, curvey mountain road. My point? Our cars are built for autocross style driving, what we lack in brute strength, we make up for in handling. "Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee." It would be a different story if we're talking 911's or something like that . I just think that if you're going to tune your car, do something more substantial than making it burn super-combustable s--t. Tuning is expensive, save your money and do something that will really make you proud  . Sorry for the long post.

I don't know, the more I think about it the more I ask questions about our cars lacking serious power. What did our m3's have to go up against in a drag race in the US that we'd really get beat? Our cars really are fast compared to what was out at the time. They put that "240 hp" to good use. A 305 hp mustang cobra was almost a head to head race, the cobra ran 13.9 in the QM and heck purple pulled a 13.9 bone stock. They only thing that seems practical to lose to was a camero SS. Other than that when mustangs and camero's really got the power in the later years of the e36 the e46 m3 was born, and that was a fast car for its time, 2001 m3 ran a 13.4 or a 13.3 in the qm while the cobra ran a 13.6. Now we're looking into power wars again, and I believe there is a v8 m3 coming out? and a V10 M5 and M6. Our cars are ment to go fast, I just believe there wasn't a competitive power market to put the euro engine in america. So the more I'm thinking about it the more I realize we don't lack serious power, our cars and the performance they came with is just getting old. Heck I can launch better than most cars that are considered a dragster.

So like I said before, our cars are getting old and falling out of the performance category. Be it NOS, or a Supercharger, or Turbocharger, Cam Kit, ObdI conversion, or anything else that helps us go faster... I think we should be proud to do something to our car that keeps us ahead of those pesky new muscle cars. Even if it is NOS. Right now I can't afford the twin screw supercharger that I am drolling over... so until then I think NOS will be my way to go, ya know? Just not to put stickers of everything we have on the car... let the other people think this is what BMW is made of bone stock. Just my two cents...

Couldn't have said it better myself. Our cars are FAST! They're almost 10 years old (older in Europe), and our E36 M's are just now in their prime!

Where is a good wet kit for our cars, or can we build one ourselves for cheap? What is the best option with wet?

I will be doing a 75hp shot wet nitrous setup with an RPM window switch on my 95 M3. Other engine mods that I have are cams, fuel injectors, euro HFM, 3.5" intake, AA Track pipe, TMS software, and borla cat-back.

My buddy has close to the smae mods as me and is also running nitrous.

If you set it up correctly Nitrous is very safe to use on our cars.

Before the nitrous i have around 250hp to the wheels now with the 75hp shot im at around 320hp at the wheels. With that you can take most supercharged M3's at a fraction of the cost, and around a 12 sec 1/4 mi time.

Im just waiting on that twin screw s/c to come to a more reasonable price!

And I hear that they are writing software so that you can use the shrick cams with the twin-screw, anyone hear anything on this?

Remember the cars mentioned above you can get replacement parts and engine

parts at pep-boys and autozone. I can't believe the M3 engineering couldn't hold up better but imagine the worst a blown piston or rod. As far as racing another M3 ....

thumbs up to each and just cruise together.....at a 120mph past the riceburners.

From what I understand about nitrous its not going to be a blown piston or rod, its gunna be a melted engine, like a setting too lean. So I'm gunna grab some gauges for my car, EGT as one of them, and start working on the nitrous once I have the money.

get some mods then do the nitrous, you can run up to a 75 shot safely.

With the kit you can use the 35, 50, or the 75hp shot nozzle
