its definitly an M3. its dakar.. but that sux for the original owner.. just tells ya you can't trust anyone.. that would be a nice parts car though.. its almost like its got most of the equipment.. just needs to be put back together..
That car is definately not an M3, the dead giveaway should be the outside trim. 325's and 318's came with a rubber protector trim almost like the weather stripping of the doors. On the m3 is a thick plastic trim, almost like the size of the glove box trim piece. If you look the bumper has it, but the main part of the chasis does not. It is very apparent that this car must be a 325i if it is the 95 year. Especially because sitting in the drivers seat is the m50 intake manifold.
The vin is wbsbf9328seh00567 its an m3. They never painted a 325 that color yellow. the mouldings on the bumper are wrong cuz its got the wrong bumper. the vin is on the door sill and the hood and the engine is a 3.2 litre motor I think? because of the color of the timing cover, and the location of the oil filler cap. i checked car fax and they said its got a clean title and that it is indeed a m3.

u can change that very quickly though.. doesn't mean its a 3 series.. i looked for the things that are harder to change.. or strip.. look at the sway bar.. or break setup under the hood..
the guy i bought it from was trying to repair it with 325 parts, he didnt get too far. the fenders, rear bumper and trunk lid where replaced with 325 ones. i guess thats where he got that trim piece. the correct vin numbers are all over the car its a dakar m3 no doubt about it. my question is where is the engine id # and whats its supposed to be on a 95 and a 98 ? i want to verify the motor
What a piece of crap!! Doubtful there's even enough parts to part out to even get your money back!! And what's with this: "The body is real good shape... it hasnt been wrecked"
