Ok I will soon be replacing my OEM brakes. The wife is in love w/ the Brembos and the Stop Techs. She likes the look of the big red calipers as do I. Now these two systems are way outta my range being that they are what about 3-4k. Does anyone have any ideas about some other BBK's that have have the nice calipers w/them that are a decent price, my budget is about $1200.00, I relly need some good advice, thanks, if not I guess I will do the OEM route again for $409.00 its just that I love the Brembo look, esp now that all the other hot rods have them like the EVO,350Z Track, even the lowly Sentra Spec V has a sweet set w/the gold calipers. Why cant BMW do this even as an option?

well there is an option that costs slightly more than your budget but its pretty pimp. I am going to do it when i get the money as i can do it front and rear for only a bit more than the front brembos.
www.ecisbmw.com and then go to the brake section..i think they are pimp and they say porsche and have all replacement parts available at any dealership.
If you dont want to go that route i would go with the stoptech stage 1 or 2 kit. Its new fluid, ss lines, new pads, and new rotors I believe. www.stoptech.com and somewhere in there it has those 2 kits listed.

I'm going w/ stop-tech. Their products are sick. Buy just the front BBK and then replace the rear rotors and lines; all that will probably set you back a little over 2-large. I don't think you need the kit at all four corners, at least w/ the Stop-Techs. Check out their website and read the tech. stuff on them. They say that they're engineered to balance with your factory rear-brakes and actually they say that going with all four corners, really does nothing more than give it a great show look. The fronts are the most important for sure, so that should drop the price of a lot of kits your looking at to w/in that range. I can't wait till I get mine  .

I just slapped a new caliper on mine last night, and painted both front calipers black (since they were already looking different with one being brand new). I was afraid the red would look like crap on a boston green. I just did it to try the look - nothing special with it being black... dunno if I wanna go red on a green car, but it would stand out a bit more.

I thought about yellow too - extreme contrast, it'd definitely show up. But then I thought about the fact that yellow would *look* like I painted them (not many calipers come in yellow that I know of) and at least with black or red, I wouldn't look like I was trying too hard.
Thought about the bright green too - for about 2 seconds, when my mind wandered to how nice those bright green calipers would match with some green neons under the car... then I grabbed the can of black and ran : )

painted callipers are the ****.. i think i wanna paint mine a light silver.. metallic silver. but ill wait until i do the brakes.. maybe throw an M badge on there too..
Not sure if the silver paint would look as good as you think. One of my dad's cars is a 2000 Miata that we did lots of mods too. Anyway after painting the calipers on my old Mustang I did the ones on the Miata. I used 500* enamel engine paint in the color "Aluminum". You can barely tell they are painted. He originally had 16" chrome Mille Miglia MM11.2's on them and you couldn't notice the calipers and then he switched to 16" BBS RX's(bent a couple of the soft MM's) and you still couldn't tell the calipers were painted. So they might not show up as much as you think.
