Do you think this car is worth it?

    1998 silver/black e36 sedan

    $21K firm

    69.5K miles

Excellent interior & exterior (only 1 tiny door ding on driver rear door)

One owner (mid 40's business woman), lots of paperwork, very well maintained (oil every 3K).

    Excellent CARFAX (qualifies for buyback)

    Completely stock, except air filter.

No power seats, HK sound, alarm, or keyless entry.

Has cruise, aftermarket CD changer, OBC, sunroof, alloy wheels, new tires.

    Transferrable 7 year/100K warranty ends 12/04.

What do you think? I'm just trying to get feedback from current/prospective m3 owners. Thanks a lot.

You might want to check that paperwork to see what has been done. M3's are notorious for some costly repairs. See if she has had any of them done.

Thanks for the advice so far.

          1) Sorry, no pics... She was suppose to send some last night but none yet.

          2) What was the "sports package" on the 98? I've read "there's no such thing" is one post. What was that? No power seats, alloy wheels? Are there performance differences?

          3) No major maintenance done. She said just some heater work at the end of last year. Do you think I could get the RTAB and RSM done on the warranty if I could find a mechanic that says they need it, even if they haven't "failed"?

          4) $21K?

          :help:

The car sounds nice but I would knock down the price because the used car market is quite depressed these days due to the cheap financing and incentives on new cars. Pay no more than 18k for this ~somewhere near the trade-in value for a private party sale.

I just bought a fully loaded 99 Coupe with 38k Miles and CPO warranty till 05/05 for 21.5k. And that was from a Dealer in LA!

I think that car sounds pretty good and could be worth 18-20k. Anything over 20k is pushing it considering the blue book and how badly M3s are getting hammered in the resale department. Make sure she has documentation of the 60k miles service/Inspection II. Inspection II on these cars from a dealer and after they replace some wear & tear parts will easily run you over 1k. Good luck!
