Can somebody help me identify if these leaks are major? Major as in: unfixable or fixable with a HIGH price. The first picture is of my transmission, looks like the leak is coming from the two bolts you see in the picture. The second picture is of my oil pan, looks like the gasket is busted (i've already purchased the gasket, but I don't know if that's the problem). Please help! I hate to see my M3 in such pain..... Thanks!

I cant open the pix but your oil pan seal is an easy fix if it is just the gasket. A cracked oil pan isnt a major headache either, but unlikely that. The transmission leaking from those two bolts may just be needing to be torqued to spec. Are they the drain and fill bolts or other? If no visible damage is seen around the bolt holes, cracks etc it may just be needing tightening. Wish i could see the pics sorry mate

Hi,
Is your tranny an automatic?
I have a 97 M3 And have a similar problem. I thought it was the pan gasket; but after a lot of wiping and looking found it to be the shift selecter lever seal.
The bolts that were wet was on the driver side of the car. Let me know if you solved your problem. (Did not see your pictures)
Thanks,
Steve

Its common for thoes seals to go on the back of the tranny, but his leak on the tranny was towards the bell housing, not the rear where you normally see the oil comming out if your output shaft seal, or your selector rod seal are going... One of mine are going and I got a minor leak from the rear of the transmission, but I am too lazy to get the special tool from work and replace them :P, it hasnt' posed a major threat yet in my book.
