    E36 M3 vs 2004 Mustang Mach 1

I was playing around today with a blue Mach 1. It still had the dealer plates on it. We didnt really race. He did a fly by and I returned it then he turned on to another street. I know these have about 300hp but how would a slightly modded e36 M3 do against a stock Mach 1? My mods so far are: JC CAI, JC Shark Injector, AA Track Pipes and ASC Delete. UUC System U and Pulleys should be installed next week.

It would be very very close and probably a drivers race.

If you are dragging then the Mach 1 should be able to take you no problem. But just on a street race then a lotta cars are similar enough to be a driver's race.

I believe the Mach 1's run mid 5's 0-60 and high 13s in the 1/4 with 305hp. You would have to get a better launch than him, but he would still pull on you.

But with your mods, I think you would run a mid-low 0-60 and high 13's too, so that is about the same. The launch would probably decide the race.

I have seen stock 99+ mustangs run high 13's with no mods. A Mach 1 is definitely capable or running low 13's stock.

The SVT Cobra with 390hp will run low 13s, the Mach 1 will be in the high 13s.

Right, the Mach 1 is basically the same body style and less horsepower that the 01 cobra, which ran 13.6-13.7 in the qm stock. So your looking at maybe a 13.8 running against you. e36 M3's can run a 13.9 stock if pushed to their absolute limits, with mods you easily get down into the mid 13's. Put on an intake manifold and your gunna be rocking. The m50 intake manifold, in my experience dampers the lower end and really puts the power into the racing band (4k to 7k rpm). And you can really feel it come on, almost like a turbo hehe. I've been racing a few mustangs lately and destroyed them. Infact they are sick that my 6 cylinder is faster than they're souped up 8. I don't know if you can take him with those mods, although your JC intake and chip are probably the best mods there. I think in any case you'll find its going to be a very close race.

How much will a M50 intake cost? Where can you get one? Do you have to get software for it?

The SCed Cobras run high 12s stock, 11s with a few hundred dollars in mods. A stock Mach 1 will easily run low 13s.

The mustang cobra 03 has 390 hp, the 01 has 320, and the mach one is 305 hp. The 01 cobra runs a 13.6-7 and the 03 cobra runs a 12.9. The mach one can not run low 13's. Sorry understeer, but it runs high 13's.

an E36 M is about even with a Billit and slighty quicker than a GT in the 1/4, the Mach 1 is slightly faster. You will win on a REAL course though (one with corners )
