steering wheel slip ring ?same as coil

When I buy a used 3 spoke M steering wheel for my 1997 M3, what parts do I need to make sure are included with the steering wheel? Is the slip ring the same as the coil, is the wiring from the slip ring separate? Did 3 spoke wheels come on any other US E36 M3s besides the 1999 model year?

I just did the swap last month.



You will need the slip ring and the plastic bracket that holds the turn signal and wiper stalks. The 3 spoke wheel also came in m coupes/roadsteres and 00+ e39 sports.

Can I use the airbag from my 4 spoke steering wheel? If not, how do I know if I can use a stage 1 or stage 2 airbag?

Can't use the 4 spoke airbag. You can use either stage bag, the stg2 just requiers you to wire it up.
