Short Shifters - Good or Bad?

Hey folks. Brand new here, heard about this place word of mouth, seems pretty well off. Anyways, my question is this:

I have heard several rumors about short-shifting, and I am wondering what you all think on the subject.

A few of the things I have heard is basicaly that it can be hard on your tranny. Ie, the excess force needed for most short-shift kits to make the throw can wear out the transmission. I have also had techs tell me that sometimes short shift kits end up hitting the drive shaft?!

I bought my M3 with a short-shift kit installed, and I love it, I am just curious if its damaging to the transmission...

    Thoughts?

    Thanks in advanced, btw.

welcome! from my knowledge the shortshifters done harm the tranny.. basically ur just using more of ur own power to push the tranny into gear.. maybe the added vibration could pose a problem but honestly i cant see that being much of a problem.. as for the driveshaft.. its not possible..

i got a UUC ssk.. its hot.. with bearings and delrin bushings.. works great.. kinda notchy but if u weight the selector rod alittle it works great... hit up understeer.com for both the WSR idea and to get the SSK.. they also have a low price SSK.. which is also a great deal..
