    Euro Ellipsoid motor

Hello, I bought a Bosch ellipsoid headlight on Ebay Germany and received it yesterday. Everything seems fine about the deal except that the lights inside the housing pivot horizontally because there is no motor holding them still. Do ZKW's, etc have provisions for this motor? Is there a part to bypass this motor and tie the headlight in 1 position? For those with a MAC running OSX or have a decent translation program, you should check out Ebay Germany for 3 series needs. Used parts are cheap. Shipping can be outrageous though. Just pop the ad in Sherman, translate and do your correspondence with the non English speaking world through the computer. (No guarantee the translation is accurate! works in Dutch, Italian, French, Japanese and Korean too)

    Thanks, Bob 98 M3/4.

Thanks for the response, both high and low beams pivot up and down. I am pretty sure this is because in Germany they have a servo motor that controls the height adjustment of the headlight in case you have a few of your buddies filling the back seat. I have a Corrado also and I have heard that they have a similar system. There is an opening just below the electrical connector where I assume this motor plugs in.

I will try to post a photo of the headlight and my new (to me) car that is in storage till the April, but have not quite figured out how to do it yet.

The car is a 98 Cosmos 5 spd. with 24,000 miles, new SO3's and Forged wheels. BTW, I am still looking for a passenger side headlight (ZKW, Hella, Bosch).

Bob (Nice, tastefull wheels on your M3!)

The headlights (high and low) tilt up and down in unison. There is an opening just below the electrical connector that appears to be where a height adjusting motor would plug in.

Does yours have the whole motor system? If so, do you find it effective? What do you have on the dash to control them, a rotary pot?

He may be refering to the new adaptave headlamps produced by bmw? They move side-to-side as well as up and down. Thats what I am getting at anyways. I see plenty of busted headlamps at the shop, I should post pics of all the wrecked BMWs I see one day....

The headlights only tilt up and down. I saw a motor to control them on Ebay Germany today. Not sure if they are willing to ship to canada. I probably will just make a part to lock them in 1 position. Hope it works

Yes they do. Do I find it effective? Yes, it's effective but relatively useless, I hardly ever use it. There is a reasonably significant margin for adjustment though and it does allow you to fine-tune from in the cabin.

The control is next to and similar to the dash illumination dimmer.
