    H&R springs with Bilstein shocks????

I met some guy today at the shop who said that he upgraded his suspension from a H&R spring/Bilstein shock setup to a Dinan stage 3. He told me that he would sell me the h&r/bilstein setup for $300. The setup has around 30,000 miles he said & were still god when he took them off. What do you guys think? How long will this setup last if I do buy it from this guy and what kind of ride should I expect?

it depends on what kind of springs, sport or race.. it will last you a while if u drive right, not hit every pothole and haul ass over speed bumps.. i say its a great deal.. considering that shocks and struts alone are close to $500 and the springs are over $200.. go for it, just hope that they are h&r race, u'll get a stiffer ride and more of a drop.. i dont know about the ride quality, i never been in that setup m3, i got h&r coilovers all the way down and i love the ride..

Bilsteins are a little stiffly valved for street springs in my opinion and they have no adjustability. Many people prefer Koni SA shocks for best street/track because of their adjustability. That said, It is a REAL good price for that setup, and the Bilsteins will most likely outlast your car.

I have that exact setup.. H&R sports and Bilsteins, it handles like a dream, but you sacrifice a lot of ride quality for it. I feel every and any bump, its annoying on long trips, but I don't mind it drivin around town or short drives.

sounds like a decent deal. and personally, i don't think the ride harshness is gonna be to bad....hardly noticable. you might want to consider doing you rsm at the same time. good luck.

probably drain your rear blinker fluid, and change out your muffler bearings..

My car came with Bilsteins and H&R race springs - they were the first things to get replaced. The ride was horrible (though the handling was unbelievable) - my girlfriend wouldn't even get in the car it was so rough. It is a good deal, but if they are race springs, you may want to try out someone else's similar set-up first. Just my $0.02.
