    GoodBye WRX , Hello M3

Im a newbie... I sell Suabru's for a living and was driving a 2004 WRX. The car was nice , pretty quick..but Torque was was rather lacking. So when a 1997 Estoril blue M3 came in I had my eye on it. the car sat on the lot for 3 mos..I decided to have some fun (need a new autocross car) with 125K on the clock it is in great shape. The car has a Hamman Exhaust and has been lowered. The springs are of unknown origin , but they are powdercoated green (any ideas??)

So 3hrs after getting the car (I basically stole it price wise) I paid the US equivalent of $14,000 for the car with 75,000 miles on it. In anycase the waterpump went , drove the fan into the rad. All said and done my company shelled out $1000 and had the car fixed at our BMW dealership. I have removed the baffels in the air box , Im working on an air intake for the car and probably will get some better springs for it as well as heavier swaybars. It came with 2 sets of tirs , full service records. I noticed that the front lid spoiler has been slightly damaged (no doubt to the lower stance) I need new center caps for the wheels, interior is perfect, no scratches on the car at all , not a repaint. Looks like it was fairly well taken care of. Im going to swap the tranny mount to the 320i , I have a set of Kuhomo victoracers for autocrossing , my first track day is May 10th. I miss RWD... the WRX is fun ,i read the post a few days back about the M3 vs the WRX.. I would take the M3 as a sports car anyday , the WRX is a snooze in comparison. It's a great car , but just doesn't have the same feel.

Welcome to the club! I am sure you'll get plenty of enjoyment! (I know I do)...

Eh... 14k on something with that high milage? Doesn't sound right, I got mine at my dealership, I too stole it, at the time, it had 101k on it, and I got it for 12,500, it too is a 97, came with a intake, upgraded xenons, strut brace, wheels, short shifted was lowered at the time and had 5% tint all around, which I removed cause I couldn't stand it heh.

Not sure what prices are like in other parts of the nation , but this was the cheapest one I found. I had a line on another one (1998) Dakar Yellow with 105,000kms for $27,500 CDN... All in all I am happy with what I paid , I know exactly what my company had in the car , and above all the car kicks sooo much ass. I RAPED a Type R tonight so bad he wouldn't even pull up next to me @ the next set of lights.

Not sure how you guys go about posting pics here... but take a look @ the Fiero here

                www.geocities.com/morley_m/northstar.htm

the car is an 86 GT with a 96 VIN 9 300hp northstar mated ot a 5spd getrag that has been completley reworked. I am using chrfabs (cadillac hotrod fabrications) (www.chrfab.com) Holley commander 950 stand alone engine management , there 788 Cams , springs and retainers. The heads I have were treated to a 5angle (none of this weiner 3 angle junk) valve job. Head work and cams are worth a proven 75hp.. Im aiming for 350 RWHP without the nitrous and god knows what with a 125 Wet shot. It's a fun project , but taking up a lot of time. Should make a nice sleeper.

We also have a Vette and a 94 911 RS america (#001) B&B headers , Track pipe , chipped , coilovers , big bars . It's my dads car. I love the 911 , but Bang for the buck , competition/ daily driver it's hard to beat the M3. The car has such a substantial feel to it, something I find the Japanese haven't quite got yet.

                just my 2 cents..

That is a very good price. I was also looking in Ontario for an M3/4 for several months. I only could find 4 in Ontario (5 In Canada) from October till Feb and ended up bringing one up from Milwaukee. What other cars have you autocrossed? Your plate looks familiar. The Fiero looks like a scary amount of fun. Very nice. I hope it has good brakes.

We have the 94 911 RS america , 1987 vette , 2 66 corvairs one with a aluminum block Olds V8 , one with the flat 6 punched out to 2.9ltrs , triple webbers , 2400lbs.. a few other toys too. the northstar conversion is common in fiero's , alothough there are only a handful of peopel with 5spds , most use the caddy Auto's. stock motor with stock auto wil turn 13.3's @ 108 all day long , thats with AC in a full option car. Cheap fun. The brakes are Chrysler 11.5" vented discs all around using camaro calipers.. It stops better than the M3 or the 911. Too bad it's a fiero (haha)

Salty , if you have a Corvair you may have heard of my father Paul McCreery , he has been autocrossing corvairs for 30 years+ Pretty good @ it too....
