After being told incorrectly what the button under the gas peddle was for

I confronted a service rep. It is found on Automatics and is the kickdown

although there is control in the petal to shift down without going to the floor

quick motion on the gas petal will shift the tranny down, as for fuel consumption the comp. will retrict the feul flow when under 1/4 tank.

If you are buying an after market exhaust and other mods just keep the stock parts handy for all warranty, chances are you're warrenty will never be used.

Welcome. Here's what I know -- my first M3 came with a Dinan chip and the exhaust.



At that time (April 02) the Dinan chip made the car ineligible for the CPO, 6 year extended warranty. So I could not get it.



I understand that the policy has now been changed, and as long as the Dinan installation was done at a dealer or authorized location (as for specifics on this point), then the car is eligible for the 6 year CPO, which it sounds like yours has.



Many dealerships now have banners and brochures marketing the Dinan stuff, so it wouldn't make sense that it would void the warranty. But, get everything in writing.



And just to be clear, it's not that you won't gain ANY HP, I was just saying that if you want BIG gains, a supercharger is the way to go. Of course it's also big $$$.



Everyone quotes different numbers, but with software, exhaust, and CAI, you might be looking at 20-25 additional horses, and more torque too.

Thanks. Q: the stock exhaust sounds pretty good........I'm not sure if all the money for the Dinan mods/exhaust will really give me that much of a noticable difference. I've been reading threads for days and all it's done is confuse me even more. I hope M3Fun43 is right in that I won't need the warranty, but if I do............ Some threads say the stage II download will be noticable some say not, exhaust yes....exhaust no. Seems the only thing everyone agrees on is the CAI that everyone else builds at a cheaper price than Dinan. But do I need the 400 dollar download for that? Dinan says yes but how much of that is......marketing? If you guys/gals where in my shoes.....what would you do?



PS: What about that tranny chip? Anybody have any info on it? Good/Bad?

I believe that main perks from exhaust is a little HP (do a full exhaust; midpipe, headers, ect. w/ intake stuff), but they weigh like half of the stock system.
