When do you hit the asc button to turn it off. More to the point, how many of you turn it off 90% of the time? 75?50?

I usually hit it with in the 1st mile of driving. rain or shine.

Since I always turn it off I am going to remove it.

i deleted mine with a 98 m roadster boot. Its been off for 2 years, and the damn light still hasn't burned out.

I deleted mine too. The car runs great, even in rain I don't lose control... however the back sometimes flies out, but I know how to drive when that happens. Coming into my development the roads are so slick that when its wet I drift up the first hill pretty far... one of these days some cop is gunna pull me over for it and I'm gunna say, "sorry buddy, this entire place is private property, no driving violations on private property" and he's gunna ask me to step out of the car and put my hands behind my back.

Does the ASC delete add any sorta gains for the car besides not having to hit the button every time you enter the car?

When I was in Texas and the weather was always warm and sunny, I usually kept mine off because I was more likely to floor it and lose traction and not want a nanny then need it to save me if I made a mistake.

Now that I'm in the North and it's always cold and rainy, I leave it on, just in case.

I have heard if you hold the asc button down for five/ten seconds you can permanently disengage it so each time you start the car it is not on. I have not felt the need to turn it off unless I want to get a fast launch out of the hole.

i went through the whole trouble taking it off and my car through a cel with codes, so i just put everything back to the way it was, besides i didn't even feel any difference in performance...

No gain in preformace, you just lose all your anti-skid features. Thats all. I turn mine off when it rains so I can umm have fun :P

why the hell would you want to remove it? if you dont want it on just turn it off.. there is no reason to get rid of it just because you want more control.. all you gotta do is hit the silly little button.

besides... if my friend had left it on on his M3.. maybe, just maybe it wouldnt have skid into a curb..

I was not aware that when you turn it off you get better take off performance.

                      I always leave mine on.

I rarely turn mine off unless I'm doing some aggressive driving. For driving around the city, what's the point? I like it, it saves your tires.

they just screwed up but not having it default to OFF. Also, the light should be more subtle and only on when the ASC is ON. On=ON, Off=OFF, see the more natural relationship? This has caused endless confusion with owners, including myself.

Mine is off 95% of the time. The other 5% is when it's raining or the roads are wet. It's a real handy thing during those times. If you drive in the wet like you would on dry roads without the ASC on, I've found it can be pretty dangerous.

My wife thinks my M3 is fast, she's right, compaired to her SI. I never told her about turning off the ASC. It gives me a little sence of security when someone else is driving my car, know they aren't going to spin out around a slippery corner or whatever. I'm not sure why people are removing the feature. You gain nothing, and lower the resale value of your car. Mine is on most of the time, unless I'm in an.... um....... hurry...
