I cant believe anyone would pay to have the inspection II done. $600-$700-$800?? Parts would cost around $100.00 and the labor is really easy going...put the car on stands and go ave' at it. Reseting the service lights can be done yourself for pennies...(a paper clip) http://www.geocities.com/odortiz/misc/zSI_reset.htm Simply bridge the appropriate terminals, and ground it for 10 seconds. Not only will you save money, but you learn about your vehicle, and in the future will save money knowing how things work, are located, and look undamaged/damaged.
I was reading through the list and the only "major" parts they replace are spark plugs, the intake air filter and the interior air filter. The rest is a bunch of checking and lubing. That is a helluva lot to pay for an oil change, spark plugs, a couple of filters and a bunch of checking that I can do myself. Presumably, anything they uncovered during all the checking would be an additional charge on top of the Inspection II charge anyway? I love the reset trick that saves another $80-$100 for a reset tool!
Other than a really noisy alternator (a $50 deductible) replacement under the CPO warranty, I won't need anything from the stealer.
I'll have money left over for a new set of shocks and struts!
You guys rock!
