    Dinan question...

What does it take to get that sexy badge?

If i got dinan exhaust, dinan intake, dinan chip and a dinan strut brace....would i get to show off the dinan badge on the back of my car (without being a poser)

You can get them from EBAY. I saw one yesterday, the trunklid badge...actually it was letters that spelled DINAN. But they have them on ebay, or you could call some of the stealerships and get it from them. Assael BMW in Monrovia, Ca has them so you could give them a call too

This link is from the Dinan website. It tells you what Dinan requires you need before they will give you an official badge, so you are not just a poser.

You will spend up the A$$ to get that badge. I like the idea of buying from another company that sells the same (if not better) products for much less $. Then don't put a badge on your car at all.

You need 10 points to get the badge, I know one way to get it is to score their S/C , that an automatic 10 pts right there. I have never been a fan of their stuff, just too much $$$$ and too little perf. I prefer AA much more.

                  Chip: $399 - 2 points

                  Intake: $449 - 2 points

                  Exhaust: $1099 - 3 points

TOTAL: $1950 (don't forget labor costs, and still 3 more points to go to get that badge  )

Fastest way to get the badge would be to buy a supercharger (10pts.)....but that costs $6000

The only thing I would buy from them is maybe the carbon fiber parts for the engine...they are the only parts that may not be AS over-priced as everything else.

If i didnt know of a more pathetic marketing plan than Dinans 10 pt ...So to "earn" a shiny trunk badge, i have to buy all of Dinans aftermarket products...of which other companys products outperform??? IMO i'll save $200 on a badge, and put it towards lighter wheels, or race seat, and actually gain performance over poseur points. Hey if someone wants to market Dinan products...some guy on ebay sells a Dinan belt buckle...you can wear that 24/7 even when you arent driving your car...lmao!

Yes it does take 10 points and yes their products may be a little pricey but to be able to buy something from the dealership that they will gladly install, soots me just fine. I don't have the time or desire to install parts on this car, I've done it far to much in the past on other cars (trust me). Most of the time people don't beleive it's a Dinan car anyway, atleast until I either open the hood or open her up on the highway. Beleive me she wears the badge with pride, so please don't knock the desire to strive for the badge.

i have a 10+ point dinan and i am happy with all the upgrades...i too have trouble finding time to tinker with my car (unfortunately). But the best thing about dinan is that all of their stuff is bmw sanctioned...doesnt void the warranty or anything. Yes...AA and others show some better numbers by a little bit here and there, but nothing that is worth mentioning. As for price...Dinan is pretty expensive...but very high quality. As for just doing it for the trunk lid, i have one, although i dont really care if its on my car or not. You are making upgrades for the wrong reason.

sk13 - I couldn't help but notice that in your sig it looks like you have a Dinan short throw shifter. Is that a misplacement or something that I don't know about yet. I would be very interested if there is such a thing. Please let me know.
