    New Member With Some Questions

#1 let me say this forum is great; lots of helpful info. Are any of you located in the Charlotte, NC area (I don't see too many M3's around here).

#2 I have not modded my '97 M3 yet (no need), but I am very interested in adding the supercharger, Shark injector and Shark CAI. Would it be a waste to "Shark" the car, only for 2 months later to supercharge the car? Will those work together, or will the supercharger have its own software and remapping?

#3 After supercharging the car, will a new clutch system be needed?

    Thanks in advance

I don't have a supercharger, but I have read that the small (cheap)mods, ie. software, CAI, etc, are a wastse of money if you are going the super charger rout as it will all have to be replaced with Super charger specific stuff. Look long and hard at all of the super charger options out there, there is a new Twin Screw SC coming out this month that is supposed to be the holy grail of supercharging, much better than the readily avail centerfugal style compressors, better and more expensive.

#1. Yes, this is a great forum. Thanks for joining :rockband:

#2. Yes, you will need specific software for the supercharger. you might as well wait till you supercharge it instead of getting software now only to not be able to use it after a few months. I also second the idea to get the Twin Screw type supercharger.

#3. Yes, you will need to change your clutch once you get the twin screw supercharger. Your clutch might be able to handle the power for a little while, but it wont be able to last long with all the extra hp and torque.

post some pics of your car, and welcome to M3forum

Also, I'm attempting to replace the hood emblem; how do you get that thing off... :banghead:

there are two little prongs that hold it in. just take a screwdriver or something that is flat to pry it up. Use something to put around the emblem so you wont put a lot of pressure and make a scratch or nick on your hood. I used my chamois (i think that's how you spell it) to protect my hood while trying to pry the emblem off. Just slowly work around the edges of the emblem and it will start to lift up.

Thanks Paul...That sounds little easier than removing the weather stripping and liner under my hood to get to those two prongs. Of course, tinkering is half the fun.

Also, I will post some pics tomorrow after my baby has been given a bath (the weather is playing havoc with my normal routine). Futher, how (after uploading a pic) do you post it, so as it appears under every post?

You have to host the pic somewhere and then put it in your signiture. you can go to your user control panel and write stuff in your sig. I'm not exactly sure how to get the pic to go in the sig. though. My friend did it for me.

You just use the [img tag when you write your sig up....

Removing the roundel is a 2 second job, just like mentioned before get a rag and a small screwdriver and just pop the 2 grommets off. Becareful the grommits dont break in half though cuz it can be a pain to dig the bottom part out of its holder. Also when you go buy a new roundel make sure you tell them its for the hood so you get the 2 grommits w/it.

The S/C has its own set up , software, a custom intake system etc.. so do it all at once. BTw I love Charlotte, used to go there all the time, hung out on I think it was East Indep. Blvd where all the car dealer ships are.

I guess Boston Green M3s and Charlotte go hand in hand. Although, like I stated before, I never see E36 or E46 M3s around here. I can count on one hand how many I've seen over the last 6 months. This is strange due to the fact there is a BMW dealership 7 miles from my townhouse (Hendrick Imports/BMW). So, you can imagine the stares one gets when tooling around in one. Ahh the fringe benefits. What is the use of owning such a car if you can't enjoy it

If any of you are in or around the area, I know some great places to actually DRIVE the car without the everyday hassel of the "boys in blue".
