    Overrev... yeah, just a bit

So, while I was messing with the DIS machine at work, I pulled this tid-bit of info from my DME. I find it humorus so I thought I would share here :P

    http://members.cox.net/morpheus91/images/overrev.jpg

    Thats where it stoped recording....

From what the previous owner said, he was going about 120mph around a turn at a track, he went to drop it from 5th to 4th, but the tranny shifted under him in the middle of his shift, and he droped it into 2nd instead....

He told me that the guy behind him was hit by a bunch of metal parts, and that all valves were bent, there was a hole where there shoulnd't be in each cyl, and the engine was missing quite a few parts. Yeah... ouch :banghead:

The only way to get that record removed is to send my DME to BMW and have them clear it... but Ill just hang on to that, and only the M3s store this info, not sure about the new ones.. prob do too.

On a side note, how to do you make that list in the posts where it has links to attachments, ya know.. the one surrounded by that box that says 'attached images'.

ouch, I'm sure that was expensive.

I think the attachements are only from your computer.. look below in the reply (not quick reply) where it says manage attachements

Yeah, I think the whole new engine transplante landed him right around 8 grand.

To get the reading you have to use BMWs diagnostic system they devloped for their cars. Ie: The dealership or someone with bmws 'DIS' system has to pull the info for you.

You can get really intresting readings from that system, live ones too. Makes finding some elecrtical issues a bit easier.

I like the PDC readings personaly, cause they tell you live in centimeters how far someone from the car is.

PDC, you will have to explain that one

Short for park distance control. Its the thing that beeps at you on most of the new cars as you get closer to things as you park. On the 754/760, theres a picture of the car, and it has a radar type images that 'morphs' where people are in relation to the front/rear bumper. Its pretty neat.

When the beep is solid, you're about 6 inches from an object.

Actually, I have a buddy that works as a mechanic at the BMW dealership down here and he also put my car on the computer. I was amazed to notice that I also had an overrev of about 8200 rpm. My engine is still perfect though. That gives me piece of mind knowing that I have a real strong engine. My engine now has 107k miles. The overrev probably hapenned at about 50k or so. I post the image of the printout whenever I find it

That's true. Never thought of it that way. Maybe I got real lucky and that's as far as I overreved it.

                Thanks

I like your M3 by the way. Specially the color. I also have a hellrot m3. I finally have to take a picture and put it on my sig.

Thanks. Helrot is deff rare, at least in my area. I don't see many of them, M3s at least.

Sirius: What kind of rear rotors are you ordering?

OEM. I really don't need anything super in the rear.. I don't plan on going backwards all that much, unless someone can suggest something better... but right now, I can get a good deal on parts at work...

That's what I thought. The front brakes are definately the most important ones. I'll probably end up gettin the stock ones. What are they retail? Like $80 / piece, right?

My cost for the euro rotors $96 each, BMW suggests $146 for each retail.

                          Stock rotors retail are $151

Which I find weird, I wonder if I got the wrong part... hmmmm

www.bavauto.com sells them for 56 bucks each.

My bad. I meant that the rear rotors are $80/piece retail.

The front ones are about $150.

What's your price on the rear ones?

                            Thanks
