    help needed!!!!!

i want to know if anyone has or had this problem.

my 95 m3 (140000 miles) still runs well.

but recently i hear annoying noise from rear or somewhere from rear of a car.

noise comes clearly whenever i disengage the gas pedal. if i push a pedal, sound go away. before i go to any shop, i wanna know some basic idea so that i wouldn't get ripped off, i hope.

plz gimme some of your wise opinion and insights.

    thank you

What kind of noise is it? A humming noise? Crunching, baning.. clashing.. ripping... rumble?

i believe it is more like a humming noise... i don't hear any kind of metal breaking sounds. feel like something's not turning smoothly...

I get something similar on trailing throttle at higher RPMs. It's not loud, just annoying, but my gear shifter kinda picks up a vibration. Maybe I'm just paranoid on the gear shifter buzz. Milage is at 167,000 kms. Transmission? rear end differential?

Humming noises from the rear are generally bearings. My experience has lead me towards wheel bearings or center bearings. If you can get the car on a lift and stand under it, you can listen to it while someone revs that car
