In the past 2 months, when I really step on the gas, I notice the smell of oil burning. I know it must only be a few drops falling on the manifold, but I can't seem to locate it. Has anybody had this problem? I am hoping that it is the valve cover gasket and not the head gasket, so I thought I would ask just incase this is a common problem. The car is a 95 automatic, with regular oil instead of synthetic.

had a little oil leakin, mine was the valve cover gasket, did it myself,
you can visually check yourself.... just look between the valve cover and the head...... hard to see sometimes, mine was leakin in the back so i couldnt really see a leak, but there was a lot of grease buildup on the gasket from oil mixing with dirt. So i figured change that first, before going to head gasket cuz its a little more complicated. Can do both together to save some time and money.
But all gaskets wear out, its common to replace on all cars after 100k.
Try Cleaning everything off underneath the car, putting newspaper under the car over night to try and see where its leaking from. But its not always coming from where its dripping on the newspaper; can trickle down parts in the engine compartment. Access to a lift or jacks help to look underneath the car.
Good luck
Peace
