    Supersprint cat-back rattles when cold.

My 1 year old Supersprint stainless steal cat-back system has developed a rattle inside the muffler recently. It's getting louder and longer everyday. Anyone else experience or hear of this?

I emailed Supersprint about this, but they have yet to contact me. HMS Motorworks (where I bought it from) can't do anything about it either. I hate to have to go buy another exhaust system.

Is the rattle just at idle or through out the rev range?

Can you describe the noise more? I have had the SuperSprint cat-back for a little over a year, and every once and awhile it makes a strange noise, I guess it sounds like a fast tinny rattling/ticking noise. Almost sounds like there is something stuck in the muffler. It usually goes away after a couple of days of driving though. I think the weather has something to do with it.

It sounds like metal against metal. I thought the muffler was rubbing against the shock or the control arm, but it's not. The noise is the loudest at idle when the car is first started up (cold). The noise last a minute or two and goes away while I begin to drive off. I don't hear it when the engine is warm and sitting at a light.

I have a rattle in my exhaust and it is stock. After going under the car to check things out, it turns out that the rattle is coming from where the exhaust goes into the rear-most cats. There is some steel wool/mesh looking stuff that has seemed to errode away. Thus causing some metal on metal contact. I am not really sure how to fix this and just live with it. It seems the mesh is attached to the cats.

          Check it out.

Hey, I had this same problem on my car and all it took was a couple zaps from my friend's MIG welder! Problem solved! If you look at the CAT's there are two joints, one on each end, just put a couple of welds on them and you are done.
