    Brake Dust

Has anyone found a tried and true method of reducing brake dust on your rims? DO Kleen Wheels work on the E36 M3? Any pads out there that are dust reduced? Just curious...

Use a less dusty pad. You can use Kleen wheels brake dust covers, but BMW is HIGHLY against them, as they greatly increase your chance of warped rotors. I am not fimilar wtih too many names of aftermarket pads that are reduced dust-wise, but I am sure there are plenty of people here who know :P

I have the Pagid pads and they generate very little dust. What I do to mitigate this problem, is wax the wheels every other time I wax the car. I find that there is generally less brake dust on the wheels, and whatever little is there comes off very easily. As for kleen-wheels and other cover products, you must be careful because there is no way for the heat to escape that area of the well quickly and easily. One splash in a puddle and you may have warped rotors.

I have a 95 M3 and now use metalmaster pads. they are inexpensive ($60 front and $40 rear) for a set and have greatly reduced my dust. they use more metal than regular pads and work well for track or daily driving. give them a shot!

you could also look into axxis ultimates pads. they are ceramic, while they still do dust like all pads, the dust from these is a much lighter color, so the rim doesn't show its dirtyness as much.

i tried "wheel wax" and it worked pretty well. took a while to put on, but after that, there wasn't too much brake dust to be found for quite some time. and it smells really good

axxis ultimates dust about 1/2 as much as stock. Hawk HPS will dust 1/4 of stock, and its a lighter color. But axxis have better initial bite. I would never do kleen wheels, get a different set of pads and your dust problems will be reduced.
