I drove like 40 minutes to this place that specializes in balancing wheels. They have a machine that balance the wheels at high speeds. I bought new rims and tires that were supposed to come balance and i ended up taking them to a garage after i noticed a shake in the wheel. This was the third balancing job. The wheel shake drives me nuts. I'm thinking its suspension type problem. I have a stock suspension and this give me an excuse to upgrade. Is there anthing i should have replace while doing the up grade. Or any ideas on what else could be causing the wheels to shake? Thanks for any help.

Mfree there 18inch rims with toyo tires 235-40-18. I began to notice a little shake before i went to the 18inch rims while my contours were on. ONe of my contours had a small bend on it so i just figured it may of threw the balance off on it. Now im thinking maybe it was something else that is getting worst. Im getting the dinan suspension put in tues. is there anything i should tell them to check while their doing it that may be causing a problem.

Before owning my 96 M3 I owned an 88 735i. Although they are completely different cars, I had a horrible shake above 55 degrees and an even worse shake while braking. My father and I replaced the entire front end of the car including control arms bushings, rods, balanced the wheels using the lastest technology and so forth. After all this the shake was still there. Then we came to the conclusion that their might be something wrong with the rims (upgraded to 18" hamann rims). Well it turned out to be a small shimmy that goes on the rim when attached to the wheel. So before going through all the trouble of changing the entire front end see if you need a shimmy in the rim.
Hope that helped,
A.J.

My wheel shakes slightly between 60-70MPH. I asked my mechanic about it and he said it was probably the tires. I have Potenzas in the front, and they are balanced with weights on the rim. Sometimes the shake is barely noticeable, and sometimes it is really noticeable. I think it has to do with road conditions, and how hot your tires are. But also since the E36 ///M3 has one of the tightest and most precise steering columns, it could be that you just feel every small vibration there is on the road. I heard from someone that if you run over a quarter in the E36 ///M3, you can feel it in the steering wheel...
