    Best place for alarm Blinker

I get the feeling the likelyhood of envious people defacing or messing with my M3 is on the increase . I figure the car at least needs a flashing LED to keep the casual idiot from getting ideas. Any suggestions for the best place to install it, or security tips /alarm componentry? The car currently has no keyless entry, so that is a must too. Thanks,

    Centre console is common...

You could try using a micro-led and drilling the door-lock knobs, al-la new Audi's or even the rear-view mirror al-la some BMW's...

Hook them to about 1000 leds in the cabin so the whole thing lights up and people will know!

Heh, the center console seems the best place for it. Especially if you change it to one of thoes really bright blue or even hyper-white leds, which will deff grab someones attention.

Hadn't thought of that. The locks sounds like a nice location ...depending on install difficulty. Thanks,

Both sound good. The White would be harsh and serious. The Blue would look nest, but probably relax the thief!

If you put them in the knobs, how would you get the wire down past the threads?

It's super easy to do hook this up.

You remove the shift boot which means more or less just pulling it.

Then you can reach under the OBC area and you pop up one of the little plastics things.

You can run a wire from behind your glovebox (where your alarm is) to under the OBC with a stiff metal wire that you pull through, but that's if you have an alarm already.

If you don't have an alarm, just drill a hole in the plastic thing and epoxy the LED and whatever powers it under there someplace. Once you pop out your shifter boot, it'll be really obvious and this will all be rambling.

I have no idea to be honest... I didn't think it through that far. Possible I'm sure though... possibly by looking at getting some actual Audi ones??

Might be possibly on the coupe, since the knobs arn't screw on on thoes, if I remember, they are push down ones, unlike the sedans, which really bugs me actually, I am almost tempted to cut mine to shorten them, then put the chrome tops on so they are below the trim panal when they are locked.
