Carbon fiber hood recommendations?

I have a VIS Racing CF hood...for the price I'd say it's pretty nice...it has a fiberglass underside, the predrilled holes for the underside felt had to be enlarged to use the existing hardware to bolt it up. Also, some modifications had to be done to the rubber thing up front to get that on too. Wasn't hard at all to DIY. The gas struts holding up the hood have to be discarded as they'll make the hood flex. So you'll need some sort of prop bar to keep the hood up while you work on it. I didn't use hood pins even though they're recommended, the stock safety latch still works as well as both the stock latches. I'm happy with it, you can see some pics at http://mkg.planetdns.net/gallery/M3

Cool. Thanks for the info. Any other opinions out there?

The carbon fiber hood is nice... but might not really be worth it. I know a kid with a supra tt that has a carbon fiber hood, and because of the heat shield it wieghs more than the stock hood... funny huh?
Heat shield? I don't think you need a heat shield for carbon fiber because I don't think that stuff melts. Anyway, you can get someone to make some, think they're called louvers, for the carbon fiber hood so nice cool air can enter the engine bay. The pic of it below is from European Car.

Thats awesome, but I wouldn't take it out in the rain then... and sadly I like the rain
Havn't thought about that. Maybe it would be possible to make a cover for it made from some extra carbon fiber? Though it might not look good w/ some kind of cover on it, who would be looking at your hood in the rain any way?
