Northern VA Members: Storage Help Needed

Does anyone in the Northern VA area have any information on, or know of resources to look for, storage of 2 - 5 cars. Storage must be indoors, but climate control is not necessary.

I'm specicially interested in potential warehouse space, but have no idea where to look (Google searches are worthless). However, I am open to any other type of solid structure in which you could reasonably store cars.

One would think there would be a "garage co-op" website or a place where people with extra space would post availability, but I have yet to find anything of the sort.

    Any help is greatly apprecaited!

Hmm. There are two storage facilities down the street from work (BMW of Fairfax), however, I dunno if you can store cars in them lol.

Yeah, those self storage facilities are ALL OVER down here. But, like you, I'm not sure if you can store cars in them.

Does anyone in VA know about this for sure??? :???:

Anyone know of any other storage options in Northern VA if these self storage facilities don't pan out??

Is 24/7 access required? You can hit hotels and garages, and ask about their monthly parking rates.

Don't know about any "bulk" places, as it were. I'd suggest asking an independent dealer, they might know.

I wouldn't want to leave mine in a publically accessible garage for long periods of time, that's just asking for trouble.

Try a public storage type place, I don't know if they have units big enough for 3 cars, but I've seen cars in the single car size before. Price will be an higher than a garage, but they are pretty secure and offer easy access. Most places will give you a deal on mulitple units.

I have to agree with Astan on this one. Some of the people I work with have mentioned using a parking garage, etc. My cars might not be the coolest in the world, but they are to me and I just couldn't leave them out in the open like that.

24/7 access isn't a must, but I would like to get into and out of the storage space during reasonable hours.

Still looking for anyone that has stored a car in a self serve storage unit in VA to chime in.

              Thanks for your input all,

I don't think it is even about how cool a car is, you know? If a thief is paying attention, he'll notice you haven't moved your cars for weeks at a time, so breaking in or even straight up stealing them isn't out of the question.

I agree, 100%. I'm not so much worried about someone stealing the cars (honestly, who wants a '91 Passat or '90 Jetta GLi??) it's that they are still basically outside and unprotected from the elements and stupid people.

Someone could easily ding, dent, scratch, back into one of my cars. Birds like to hang around in parking garages and will crap all over it (yeah, I know...car cover, but still).

Plus, I can't store all the other crap I've accumulated over the past how every many years of being a car junkie :help: .

I need 4 walls, a roof, and an entry/exit point suitable for a car. How hard can that be??!!! :???:

                  Ok, enough ranting...I apologize.
