To answer the question I have a 99 m3 3.2L.

I am still not convinced what is better short pipe or long pipe?



Also will I even notice any gains for this mod... or is it not worth it to mess with stock?

This is what I was looking for..... screw Dinan, and all that over priced carbon fiber bs, I guarantee the temperature transfer from carbon fiber and metal is not worth 200 dollars and a few degrees difference.



I am just gonna build my own. If anyone else has feel free to post. I am happy and looking forward to a nice project,... now I can get the Shark Injector with the money I saved and get a justifiable mod.

Wouldn't a PreCharger work just fine in protecting the filter from the elements?

It may help. I mean, I am basing what I said off of what I have seen at work, and every CAI that goes to your front cover has always had and extremely dirty filter, even small pebbles in it. I have had my K&N filter in for about three months now and its still extremely clean....

Deff remove the stock airbox, its very restrictive, and a CAI will produce you some nice engine sound. I love how my engine sounds with the CAI compared to a stock box.
