I hear more and more about these. What are they... Rear Trailing Arm Bushings? Do they need to be replaced like the RSM's? Also, I hear about special tools needed to replace them. What's the facts on these things?

They tend to wear out just like your RSM or your FLCAB. You need a press type tool to extract and install the bushings into the arms though. BMW has their own special tool that fits exactly. Just like they do for wheel bearings and such.
Alot of people put stronger, aftermarket ones in so your suspension is stiffer, less play, mainly for track use from what I have read though. I mean, having super-hard bushings on a street car will make for a rather unconftorable ride.

FLCAB = front lower control arm bushings. They are known to go bug-eyed after awhile.
The rear trailing arm is that curvy, big arm you see that goes from the front of your wheel, its bolted to an area behind your rear jack point, curvs around and holds your kunckle. It has an ///M on it too. As do alot of the suspension parts for that matter.. but I think thats the only one in the rear thats got that.
There big bushings at the two major points they connect to the chassy.
I am sure some of the track junkies here will jump in sooner or later on this topic.
