96 cosmos m3 41k, what to do next?

hello people, i jsut picked up a 96 cosmos black M3 with 41k (obd 2)on it, the thing is ridiculous. i have a bnb triflow exhaust and a ecis cai 9" filter witha heat shield , i wanna do a soft ware upgrade on the ecu but every were its $400 any ideas? also whats this ive been hearing of a fan delete mod? i live in a state were if it gets over a 100 degrees farenheit im lucky, should i do it or just leave it?

    Thanks mario

oh yea my trany is really sticky in this car, as in when i put it in gears you can feel its not smooth. i re bled the system for airbubbles and still the same, when power shifting it has a tendancy to not want to go in gear in 2nd. also does anyone else's first gear whine in the rear end and the rest of the gears sound good?

I wouldn't do the fan delete in such a hot place especially if you ever get stuck in traffic.

People have done it before, but I just figure leave it. 4-5 hp is not worth potential overheating and just worrying about it. You'll barely notice it anyway.

~$400 seems to be the going rate for software upgrade (like the Shark Injector, Bavarian Autosports injector, etc)...

I live in CA and have thought about doing the fan delete mod.. but in the summer it gets up to 110 here and I have the A/C on a lot (more load and heat for the motor) so I decided not to do it... plus we have lots of stop and go traffic here...

dunno about the tranny maybe synchros? I haven't done tranny work before.. so I'm not sure... btw did you replace the fluid? or you just tried bleeding the old stuff?

I think most 1st gears do. Just because of the gear ratio perhaps? Reverse whines too.. ever get up to a reasonable speed in reverse? I have gotten up to 20 in reverse before, even in the newer models they do that.

96bmwcosmos, I find that mine and every other E36 M3 I've driven has a pretty sloppy gearbox...aren't they kindof known for that? Anyway, my winter car (honda) has a more precise feel to the shifter than my M3. It very-well could be a problem with the synchros or something, but give it a little time to get used to it and before long (if there's nothing wrong) you'll be able to shift it like a champ. IMO they aren't the easiest shifting cars around.
