Anyone ever use the touchless washes? Having a Black car reality dictates that I must wash the car more often than is convenient by hand. Currently my paint has zero swirl marks, and I know that a Black car will show swirl marks after a few passes through a soft cloth car wash. So I feel I will go through the touchless ones between proper hand washes. Are the touchless ones at least safe??
I have 2 comments concerning a touchless carwash.
1) Guess what the interesting thing is about a touchless carwash. When you're done, your car looks like it wasn;t touched or washed a single bit. 10 years ago, when I was in high school, I worked at a gas station. Cars were never cleaned properly at the touchless carwash. Same thing nowadays.
2) Car washes are bad for your paint (touchless or not). They use dirty recycled water to save money. I've asked around in a Chevron station by my house, and the water they use is recycled, not fresh. So its already full of dirt particles from the previous cars its washed.

This is why I handwash mine and use only a clean batch of soap and a very clean mit.
the white car gets a wash once a week - wax every 3 months. the wheels get a wipe down when the brake dust gets out of hand. the black car gets a wash twice a week - and same rule on the wheels.
Any of U use that goat skin to dry ur car. Maybe its not goat skin but is sure feels like it. I think its called sumfin else but i know it dries hella good.
Maybe water is still cheap enough in Toronto that they use fresh.I will ask. It seems to me the pre soak stuff is the key to touchless. Wonder if this stuff strips wax more than other cleaning chemicals in the car wash process?
On another front, what do people think of the foaming brush at coin op places? I always wash the brush thoroughly with the high pressure hose and give it a feel for grit. They do feel soft to me and that foam must act as a bit of a cushion.
